Making a list; checking it twice

Now that I am in possession of broadband and a good firewall, I have begun tentative forays into the wonderful world of peer-to-peer file sharing via LimeWire.

I'm not overly impressed so far. For one thing, grabbing MP3s by P2P rather than FTP, as I believe the jargon goes, is dead slow; for another, you don't know exactly what you're getting until it's downloaded. It's perfectly possible to get the wrong version of a song, or a different song altogether, due to user mislabelling.

The moral of this story is that people don't label their damn CDs properly. Previously, careless track entering was the individual's problem, but thanks to the wonders of technology it's now my problem too, and it gets right on my wick.

OTOH, I have been able to compile my very own Christmas playlist, which I now present for your derision delectation:
  • White Christmas - Bing Crosby
  • Santa Claus Is Coming To Town - The Crystals
  • Little Saint Nick - The Beach Boys
  • I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus - The Jackson Five
  • Santa's Beard - They Might Be Giants
  • Fairytale of New York - The Pogues
  • Stop the Cavalry - Jona Lewie
  • Run Run Rudolph - Chuck Berry
  • Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley
  • Christmas Wrapping - The Waitresses
  • The Little Drummer Boy - Perry Como
  • Walkin' Round In Women's Underwear - Bob Rivers
  • Happy Xmas (War Is Over) - John Lennon
  • 7 o'Clock News / Silent Night - Simon & Garfunkel
