I've been house- and cat-sitting this week for friends who live a couple of streets away. The cat, Calvin (also known to his loving owners as the Calvinator, Calvinosaur etc) is a sociable soul - the kind of cat who will come and watch you on the loo if you don't bolt the door - and has spent a lot of time on my lap, on my bed, or just chilling out in my general vicinity. It's flattering to be so loved, even if the peak of affection is reserved for the times when I'm tearing open a pouch of Felix As Good As It Looks.

It's been a delightful week: lovely house, snuggly cat, comfortable bed, and an invitation to help myself to anything I like from the fridge and food cupboard ("Do they know what they're letting themselves in for?" asked Howard when I told him this). Sadly it ends tonight and I will have to go back to my own life, tempted though I am to claim squatter's rights.
