On Winning

I wasn't able to post this on Friday, and it was rather overshadowed by real life concerns after the weekend, but:

I successfully did NaNoWriMo this year, writing over 50,000 words between November 1st and November 30th.

I've done NaNo once before, in 2004, for a specific set of reasons. I wasn't sure if it was wise to commit this year, or if I'd get much out of it. As it turned out, it was a good challenge and showed how possible it is to make time for writing if you have the motivation. I have always known that I need deadlines, no matter how arbitrary, to function, and this has proved it.

It is very tempting to rest on my laurels for December, but I am trying to maintain the momentum of writing at least a little every day. And putting off the evil moment when I have to try and edit 50,000 words of nonsense.

Yay, winner! I'm glad I did it once, but yes, the prospect of editing 50,000 of nonsense is offputting - that's certainly what stopped me making anything more of it.
Not good at editing at the best of times. I fare best if I've got a beta reader to poke me in the right direction - but I need to do an initial edit for them first. Rather like people who tidy the house before the cleaner arrives.
...! That is really good to see, and far from easy to do! :)
It was fun for a month, but I wouldn't want every day of my life to be like that! Unless I was only writing and nothing else, which would be great.
Many Congratulations from here!
Thank you! That means a lot, coming from someone who knows what it feels like :)

Can you tell us any more about what you wrote, or are you keeping quiet until after you have edited... or longer still?
It's furry, it's clean, it's an expansion of a short story that's coming soon :)
Hurrah some more!
Well done!
Thank you!
Congrats! :)
Thank you!
Woohoo! Congrats on finishing NaNoWriMo, Alice :)
Thank you!
