Something So Right

When Numbers Get Serious

Can you count from one to ten in songs? This challenge floated past me on Twitter, and is, of course, the sort of thing that is made much easier by iTunes's Search facility.

  1. One-Trick Pony - Paul Simon
  2. Two Suns In The Sunset - Pink Floyd
  3. Three Imaginary Boys - The Cure
  4. Positively 4th Street - Bob Dylan
  5. Five To One - The Doors
  6. Six Blade Knife - Dire Straits
  7. Seven & Seven Is - Love
  8. Driver 8 - R.E.M.
  9. #9 Dream - John Lennon
  10. I Close My Eyes And Count To Ten - Dusty Springfield

Hmm. It feels to me as though the song title ought to begin with the number.

For example, otherwise, I can economise by using Gloria Estefan's 1-2-3. And indeed Vangelis's Albedo Zero Point Three Nine. (-8
5-4-3-2-1 by Manfred Mann would help no end, too!
Well, yes. Though that was somewhat before my time (and before yours, too). I think I know it now you mention it, but I wouldn't have managed to remember it otherwise. :-p
The original song was before my time, but the 1980s chocolate bar advert wasn't!
Oh, I'd forgotten that! I have since discovered the Manfreds independently.
I might have to do this!
