Making Things

mrs_leroy_brown hosted a craft day on Saturday - which was very generous, because if you do that you will end up with a floor covered in bits and a load of random crap the participants 'forgot' to take away with them.

Some people brought their current projects to work on - katstevens finished knitting her beret on the scene and went home wearing it, to great acclaim - and we all brought crafty stuff to play with.

I brought pinking shears and a cake, which were both used. pippaalice had brought SHRINKYDINKS, something I never got enough of in childhood and seized upon joyfully. And Kat tried to teach me to knit but I was utterly unable to grasp it. This isn't the first time somebody has tried to teach me and failed; perhaps inability to knit is genetic, because my dad couldn't either.

On Sunday the creativity was culinary: I had yagfox round for my tried, trusted and always impressive orange chicken biryani. Following our recent conversation about Abigail's Party, he brought a welcome and alliterative contribution of Black Tower, Blue Nun, Babycham and Black Forest Gateau.

The perfect end to an enjoyable evening was calgor washing up.
