Education Secretary Charles Clarke reckons that taking a degree in Classics, as I did, is high-brow, elitist and ultimately useless.

Perhaps if he had himself studied Classics, which teaches, amongst other things, sound grammar, he wouldn't have been quoted in the Daily Mail as saying 'If we had less people studying philosophy I think that would be unfortunate. I feel very less occupied by classics'.

Charles Clarke is a stultified moron. That's: one who is stupid, and who has been made to appear stupid. Stultified, from a Latin word meaning 'stupid'. Moron, from a Greek word meaning 'stupid'.
