Red Card

With four friends' birthdays upcoming in the next week-and-a-bit, I'd like to take this opportunity to complain about how crap birthday cards are these days. I used to regard myself as a giver of tasteful, appropriate and diverting cards, but I fear it's a reputation I'm about to lose.

It's all playschool-level art and playground humour to match. Rock bottom was seeing two cards by different artists featuring the same lame joke: one from the 'Twisted Celebs' range with 'Jamie Oliver Twist' saying 'Can I have the healthy veggie alternative please?', and 'More coriander?' from the perenially unfunny Bestie.

Come back, Gary Larson, all is forgiven.
