Sloe Train Coming

Some months ago I started badgering a friend who works for Natural England to keep an eye out for sloes during his encounters with the countryside. In mid-October we made an expedition to a likely bush and nicely filled a Tesco bag. Two bottles of Value Gin, some sugar and three months later, interspersed with diligent weekly shakings, I now have an apparently indelible sticky ring on the kitchen floor where the jar of sloes-n-gin resided and THIS:
