Ah, Mondays

First thing on this grey and rainy Monday morning I broke my glasses, so I'm wearing my free second pair. This means bog-standard lenses rather than expensive ultra-thin high-refractive-index ones, which means they're a centimetre thick at the outside edge and heavy enough to hurt the bridge of my nose.

Then my bike wouldn't start. The little red immobiliser light on the dashboard was flashing a code which I interpreted as 'sucks to be you'. When I reported this to the garage they said it might just be the aerial, then again we might have to replace the whole lock barrel, get it to us and we'll see. I was already late for work, so I threw two sets of keys at calgor with instructions to release my bike into the hands of the breakdown people when they arrived.

Hooray for Specsavers! Because my glasses are less than a year old, they whipped the lenses out and put them in a brand new frame off the shelf, no questions asked.

Of course, it is still Monday: I set off for the shops in brilliant sunshine, regretting my decision to wear long sleeves, only to get soaked to the bone on the way back.
