I've bought a new book to take on my upcoming holiday.
This is pure self-indulgence, since I am currently in possession of not just a to-read pile but an entire to-read bookcase. I'd never heard of novel or author before I saw it in a pile in Foyles, but how could I resist an alleged modern classic about fighter planes in the Korean war?

Mum's stipulation that writers should be living rules out, alas, Catch-22, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
