Frosty the Showman

Behold the liquid Thames now frozen o’er
That lately SHIPS of mighty burden bore.
The Thames hasn't frozen o'er since 1963 (so I am informed by a colleague, who asked if I was around then; possibly the only person who's ever got my age wrong in that direction), but Southwark is holding a Frost Fair on the South Bank from Friday to Sunday. The highlight of this event, at least as far as I'm concerned, is the Real Ice Slide: throwing yourself down a giant icy slope, perched on a rubber ring? I'm so there. I'm less interested in street theatre, but a mug of mulled wine would go down well too.

I plan to pop along after work on Friday. Give me a yell if you fancy checking it out.
