I Can Give It Up Any Time

verlaine asked about his readers' drinking habits. In the ensuing free-for-all it transpired that Matt, a man who by his own admission gets stinking legless several times a week in the company of various disreputable drinking buddies, wouldn't dream of knocking back a civilised gin & tonic alone in the privacy of his home (a habit to which I confessed freely), because this would classify him as an alcoholic.
