Drilling Me Softly

They're digging up the road directly in front of our building. I'm finding it intolerable and have retreated under my iPod, which means that my colleagues have to put up not only with fearsome drill ruckus but with me compulsively tapping my foot against the base of my swivel chair and occasionally muttering about killing Arabs. It seems to improve my typing speed, though.

Yesterday we sent out a mailshot and all were in awe of my speedy envelope-stuffing skills. I described numerous temp jobs in which I had done nothing but stuff envelopes for days on end. "Imagine being able to afford a temp just for that!" said my boss, wide-eyed.
