One Man Gathers What Another Man Spills

I pick up pennies in the street and stuff them in my coat pocket.

This is purely to bring myself luck, you understand, rather than because I'm a filthy dirty guttersnipe, and I generally pop them in a charity box when I'm all done being lucky.

This morning, in the middle of the road, I spied a tuppence and stooped to grab it. As I was picking it up I spotted a penny a couple of feet away, and while I was picking that up I noticed a third, smaller coin which I took for a halfpenny. On closer inspection, however, it turned out to be one-twelfth of an anna, with 'VICTORIA EMPRESS' on the obverse and 'INDIA 1898' on the reverse.

I would love to know what adventures brought it to my doorstep, and what it's been up to in the 107 years since it was minted. I'll be keeping that one in my pocket awhile.
